Had to do that with my first car though!

Had to drive my 'shite' brown mini clubman 1100cc 10 miles on the choke - same principle.

Ran just as well like that as it did on the throttle - how about the isonblade? any performance loss? laptimes reduced at all?

No. I mean i pulled the choke as hard as I could to increase the revs and off we went -

Every traffic light was on Red all the way home too

3.5SD1 Auto rover & throttle cable broke sunday evening on the way out to a do. 20miles from anywhere. Open bonnet up wind throttle idle screw fully on get back in start & lob into drive quick. Fast as f**k going along level & down hill. Slower than any snail by the time you got to any rise (open door got out walk round & get back in slow), got to do, trouble is I had 40 miles coming back.
Just think of the fun that you could have with modern fly-by-wire throttles?.
