That looks like a spoof to me!

I bought a KH250 new in 1977 and had it for 18 months.

the normal 3 cyl engine produces 28hp and its a 2 stroke. The engine had problems with cooling the centre cylinder, so quite how that cools itself....

also, the distance from the seat to the handlebars makes it look unridable....

Steve,

I had a KH250 (well, an S1C but same thing really). I had the centre cylinder honed out slightly for greater clearance, turned up the centre oil pump (3 pumps, 3 coils, 3 carbs, 3 points eeek!) and ducted over the front mudguard to the barrel itself. Clever huh?

No. It seized at an indicated 95mph. I never did catch that LC.

Great noise though.

Neil.

Forgive me for interupting (me being a whipersnapper an all ), but I was always told the trick was to run one grade cooler on the centre plug?

Could be bollox though, as I know nowt about expansion chambers

Had a KH 400 in '79. Went like the clappers! Had to have a cooler rated plug. ISTR that the plug actually ran hotter, preventing the plug from oiling up??

You're right, cooler plug = fouls up quicker, but I'm sure I saw it somewhere. ISTR it was on some anoraks website where the guy restroed an H2 750, including getting a special batch of paint made to original spec.

The plug thing came from the aftermath of when the centre piston seized in the bore during the running in...

I had a kh250 new - 76 R reg.

It was a great bike. I never had seizing probs, but did have an ignition coil fail on one cylinder.

I rand st plugs. However, if I ran it below 4k (8,500 redline) for more than a few mins, the plugs would oil up.

Im working on getting a kh250 as a project or complete bike once the car is completed - or as soon as I am sure my wife wont shoot me for buying a bike!

piccky is me at 18 with RLC 451R. 26 friggin years ago.....

When we were at Goodwood on Friday, we were talking to the chap from Dodge about whether the bike (Tomahawk) was comfortable. He said very, looked at me and said
"you're about my size" jump on!

There you go. Of 6,000,000,000 people on the planet, I'm one of a few hundered(?) to have sat on one of the weirdest/most powerful(?) bikes on the planet.

If you haven't seen it:

Unfortunately, he wouldn't give me the keys!!
