Just out of interest really, no specific reason out than curiosity -

One of the big issues with the newer engines is that many of them are Direct Injection which requires an expensive aftermarket controller (ecu) if you want to tune them (LIFE ?), so has anyone tried to convert the GDI type engine (Ford Ecoboost, VW 2.0, mazda GDI etc.) back to a standard injection system with standard throttle bodies (just leaving the GDI injectors inp[lace to plug the holes) or putting injectors in the inlet air tract thereby allowing the use of MS/Emerald/Omex etc.?

The only issue would consider likely is possible slight localised overheating of the redundant injector due to the loss of the cooling effect of the fuel flow however GDI engines are designed for lean burn they may have too much turbulence in the combustion chamber..

Everything I have hears/seen/read about GDI suggest the various systems ares currently a mantanance nightmare, part of that is that we still low down on the learning curve.
