some are some arnt, dose that answer your q?

I think that you will find that it is. You will soon be able to tell with a look under the bonnet. The pinto is a single overhead camshaft engine.

I'm pretty sure that the DOHC engines only had 1800 as a maximum.

Mark Allanson - 2/1/04 at 05:55 PM

In the sierra, all the DOHC's were 2.0

VinceGledhill - 2/1/04 at 06:01 PM

I stand corrected.... Mark, can you prove that (with a photo)..... Mark the man of many photos....

Happy new year to you and yours.

Are you going to get yours on the road this year? Spring mabye?

vince

after 1989 all sierra 2.0 were twin cam 8 valvers - with a few exceptions due to old stock.

later 1.8 were cvh engines

1.6 were all cvh? in any respect, I dont think any engines other than the 2.0 were multi cam

mr paul_mcq sill cant put two sentances together or say thank you I note

If all 1.6 sierras were cvh, what was the useless 1.6 pinto put in except transits?

note the use of the ? in my statement

AFAIK the later 1.6 were cvh.

the sierra and granada haynes manuals detail approx what was used on what and when.

ps

come to think of it, the '?' was well deserved cos the 1.6 sierra is older than the cvh engines!

Mark Allanson - 3/1/04 at 12:00 PM

All sierra 1.6 were Pinto's until very late in the production run when a special catted version of the CVH was used. Very early in the run a 1.3 pinto was available but only in the 3 door version (it lasted about 18 months and was killed of due to lack of demand)

The 1.8's were pinto until about 1988 and then the CVH took over

The 2.0's were pinto's until late 1989 when the 2.0DOHC took over, some were 16V but I dont know if that was run along side the 8v or superceded it

Vince, I have only got pickies of my engine, quite a few! I want to be finished by end of spring, but with the bad weather I havent got near the car in a few weeks (working outside remember!). Realistically, it will be end of the summer (I Hope!)

Don't you wish you had a double garage complete with comrpessor, air tools and a spanking space heater???

Oh... and last year.... during the winter months I got a digger out and built a pit in it.

It's looking more like Nigel "detail" Dean's garage every day.

VinceGledhill - 4/1/04 at 01:07 AM

Then again. I would swap west cornwall for west yorkshire any day.

Mark Allanson - 4/1/04 at 12:22 PM

I did exactly that, moved from Acomb in York to St Ives 30 years ago. Property prices are balistic down here, £250,000+ for a 2up 2down, so we rent our house out and rent a cottage 4 miles out of town for half the rent we recieve from the house in St Ives.
