Motorcycle engine drivetrain question
nbuilder - 3/1/04 at 12:29 PM

I'm new to this so forgive me if this is a stupid question but if i was to drop a 1300cc Suzuki engine in my Locost, how would I send the power to the back wheels? As motorcycles are chain driven, how is it possible to send the power through a drive shaft? Please try to explain in simple form. I'm not a mechanic.

hi! its an easy one that! the engine gets spun round to face rearwards, then the sprocket is replaced with a flange that will connect to a normal propshaft. a car diff can then be used.

if the engine is in the back then there are other ways of doing it.

all the best, Joel.

Thanks for your help. Anyone else got any comments? I need as much help as I can get!

maybe try a post in the BEC section, then the keen BECers will see it. lots of knowledgable chaps here but not all see every post, maybe more luck in there.

or see who posts a lot in the Bec section and look in there photo archive, under their names.
