Engine running problems

I got my exhaust fitted properly today, and the water in so tried to run the engine for longer than 5 seconds!

It starts up and idles perfectly, but as you rev it, it just dies. If you lift off the throttle again, it'll drop straight back to idle no problems at all

I also 'think' I'm getting unburnt fuel down the exhaust, and a white-ish smoke.

Its got twin 45 Webbers on it btw

Anyone know where I should start trying to make it run better?

Cheers

On the electrical side, it points to retarded ignition, siezed frugal weights in the distributor.

On the carbs, blocked main jet(s), insufficient fuel pressure

If the carbs aren't set up.. dont expect the engine to run well / or at all lol

I hope it's not the Exhuast manifold.........White smoke is probley condensate. The carbs will want sorting. It seems sounds to be "leaning" out.The choke/enrichment fully engaged should help on the Webers. As stated earlier check your ignition. It may not be keeping up with the Rev's/Loading.

..Which was nice..

I have looked mate, and TBH, it has already been said.....

Does the engine run any better with the chokes operated?

What makes you think you have unburnt fuel down the exhaust?

Have you tried moving the dizzy backwards/forwards to see if it makes any difference?

WIh the engine switched off, if you move the throttle quickly to the 'flat out' position, do the carbs squirt fuel OK?

Thanks guys.

I'm gonna start at the begining

I have a Filter King fuel pressure regulator that I have no idea how to set (could be wrong), can anyone give me a ballpark figure of how to set it? Eg so mny turns out, as I don't have a pressure guage.

Cheers

You can make you own pressure guage, out of some clear petrol pipe. Basically, you hold it vertically, with the igniton on, and 'measure how far up the petrol can be pumped. The further the petrol goes, the more pressure you have, which can be translated into psi. There was a post on how to do it on the Westy website, but I cant find it at the mo.....
