Fan

Hey all.

I have took my nose off my tiger, first real time and noticed the fan is 50% the size of the rad.

Is this ok.

Hi there. Size-wise, it looks fine.
Difficult to actually make out from your pic, despite it's size, but is it fitted the right way round?
It may well be wired up to rotate such as to make it blow through the rad but the curvature of the blades looks wrong.
It looks like a "pull through" fan that would normally be fitted behind the rad.
It may not be very efficient.

How can I tell if the fan is fitted incorrectly. When I powered it I could feel the air going through the rad so not sure!!

Does the car overheat?

If not then I'd say it's working fine.

If it does then fan push/pull orientation size need to be considered.

My experience with fans suggests they'ye usually positioned behind the radiator and designed to pull cold air through the radiator from outside the car. This leaves the radiator exposed to maximum airflow when the car's moving.

Other than being offset to the left its full height so not sure how you would get a bigger one. If you can find a rectangular fan to match your rad then go for it

Mine is!!
Or at least the shroud.
Not installed yet, but originally intalled in a 1995 Ford Mustang.

Hi Jason. The curved edge of the blade would usually be the leading edge. The straight edge would be trailing.
The blades are also curved in cross section. Yours looks to be curved the wrong way.
Like other people have said, if the car isn't overheating then it seems to be OK regardless.

I'll take another picture (Better scale) to show the fans in a better angle.

The car does get warm, when standing still, so I wonder if this is the reason?

Getting warm when standing still is perfectly normal and nothing to do with the fan at all.
The fan will only come into play if the engine gets hot and the fan temp switch cuts in.
During normal running the fan should not be on.
