Midtec Spyder not starting TPS?

Since I have had the midtec I have not been able to get it to run properly. It had been sat for five years and not moved before I got it

It had carbs on when I got it but had previously run on throttle bodies made from a pair of webers with a ford fuel rail. It runs a very early emerald ecu

I thought I would put the TB's back on and upload the last map that was used when running on these.

It was twin fuel tanks, now going through LP fuel filter, LP pump, swirl pot, HP pump, HP filter to fuel rail, then fuel reg swirl pot and back to tank.

Checked pumps and both run fine, pressure good at rail set to 50 psi.

Injectors firing from ecu, sparks sparking, but wont start.

I have been looking at the setting in the ecu, and there is a TPS set up. When I run the test, it only pick up two stages and say test failed. Apparently needs 7 stages.

I have had a multimeter on the tps and everything looks good. Any ideas why it would fail test and only give 2 stages?
5.3k end to end
sweep to ground 230 ohms to 5.3k
sweep to red 5.3k tp 1.116k

Does the TPS give the same readings at the ECU?

Had problems with my car when I converted to Emerald which turned out to be the TPS ,the engine would start and run but not drive . Have you tried a squirt of brake cleaner down the inlet to eliminate any furling issues? If it fires then it's likely to be stale fuel or sticking injectors, if not try new plugs.

Tried easy start, and nothing. I will try another TPS and see if that sorts it. If not its back to the drawing board

Sorry for the late reply, I've not had wifi for a few days. I suspect you may have an ignition problem if it's not firing on Easistart ? It may be as simple as fouled spark plugs if as you say you have a spark ? Have you ever had it running at all?

When i got the car about five years ago, it had been sat for 5 years before that. It had the throttle bodies removed and twin webbers put on. I could not get it runing very well, would not ticker over, so decided to go back to the TB's.

Unfortunately time flies by to quickly.

We have a very strong spark

We have injectors clicking and squirting.

Fuels has been drained and filled with fresh.

Lp and HP pumps checked and rail presure set to 55 PSI

Just tries two other TPS and now thats three in toatl that can not get set up. Error min position =0 max position =3. Think there needs to be 7

0 to 15 stites tho.

may have to check the wiring back to the ecu

What engine is it? Have you checked compression? What ECU ? Which TPS and is it fitted correctly , rotating in the correct direction?

Had problems years ago with my brothers Renault 21 which was an absolute pig to start, wouldn't idle and was gutless, I managed to cobble up a vacuum gauge and eventually got it running. The vacuum readings indicated tight valve clearances , on measuring all of them had no or very little clearance. Once adjusted by putting the shims on a sanding belt the engine started and run perfectly. I think it may have been the same engine?

check all the camshaft and crank timing is correct. Had similar issues in the past, cams were out 180° in the end! Luckily it was a clearance engine!
