Fitting a turbo to a Haynes Roadster?

Has anybody fitted a turbo to a Haynes Roadster, if so did it fit ok or did you have to modify the manifold to get it to fit?

What engine?

You will deffo need a new manifold for a turbo whatever car or engine you have!

It’s a mk1 1.6 MX5 engine (1991), is there an aftermarket manifold for a turbo which would fit inside the engine bay of a Haynes Roadster, or would I need to have a turbo manifold fabricated to suit the engine bay?
Has anybody fitted a turbo to a Haynes Roadster?

Hi

I'm doing this at the moment, a company called Davefab made my manifold and down pipe to fit the mx5 1.6 engine in the haynes chassie.

There are a few off the shelf manifolds but they place the turbo very close or on the top rail.

I’ve just fitted the Kraken manifold and it fits well, the compressor side of the turbo is about 15mm away from the chassis rail, the hot part of the turbo is well away from the chassis rail. I’m using a TD04L turbo £80 and the Kraken kit cost £295 posted.
The Kraken kit consists of the cast manifold, a cast shroud which connects the turbo to the down pipe, oil pipes, water pipes, fittings including brass fitting for sump oil return and studs/copper bits for fitting the turbo to the manifold.
Looking forward to completing it ready for next years track days.
