performance expectancies?

Hi guys!

I've just finished building up a ford 1600 crossflow for my '7' and was just wandering what power figures I can expect as well as where my new rev limit will be.

balanced crank,
lightened & balanced flywheel,
balanced & pocketed pistons,
ported head with double valve springs,
kent 244 cam,
2x40 weber's,
K&N filters,
Birkin branches.

assuming all work has been done well (I HOPE
)
I'm in South Africa at altitude of about 1500 metres,

Thanks guys,

darren

Hi Darren
You should get a reliable 135-140bhp, that's what Cat***ams were getting when similarly specced.

thanks Chris,

1 more question, what would be my new rev limit? Where does a standard crossflow redline?

cheers

Hi
Ison You are a phillistine. Us luddites have feelings you know!
Seriously, a 1600 x-flow redlines at around 5700rpm. A lightly mooded one (like mine) redlines at around 6500rpm. I would think yours would be safe to at least 7500, perhaps 8000 in short bursts. I have a kent 224 cam in mine which has a power band of 1000-6500 and so is very torquey so high revs are a waste. The 244 is pretty much a supersports cam and is rated at 3000-8000. Hope this info helps. Please ignore rice burning worshippers from chesterfield!
