How to set up linkage for twin carbs?

Gents,

Having just purchased the throttle linkage for my twin 40 dellorto carbs I'm now stuck as to how they fit?

Thought I'd make an arse of myself on here before calling rally designs.

There shown in my archive.

Thanks in advance Dan.

Not a clue

I've got some in the shed, I'll look at them tomorrow but I don't think they have anything like that on them.

yours, Pete.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Throttle linkage.

I've put a couple of pictures in the archive. The bit you have looks like it fits somewhere for the cable to pull against. The linkage is fitted to the carbs in the middle on mine and it accepts the ball on the Sierra throttle assembly so it would be possible to attach that with a bit of bodging (ingenuity).

yours, Pete.

Hi Scutter,

Yours looks similar to the linkage on my webers (same idea, a bit different shape).
I think it sits on top of one carb, and needs a bowden (bike) cable or two from the accelerator pedal. It's set up for twin cables as I think.

Your pic01 has it upside down I think

I would expect the gold plated (?) bit to fit on top of one carb at be attached using the existing carb cover bolts, So that in plan the alloy arm is in between the two carbs.

As far as I can tell from the pics you'll need to rotate the alloy arm against the spring tension about 270 degrees, i.e. 3/4 of a turn clockwise and look for a throttle lever on the carb to attach the dangly plate to.

Then two of those four holes in the vertical part of the gold bit should be line up with the cable clamp bolts in the short end of the alloy arm ready for the accelerator cables.

If I got it right, then you should just need to get some cable and suitable cable sheath ends and adjust as usual.

If I got it wrong Sorry!

Is that any help?

I can take a photo of mine if you want.
(but it's not as pretty as yours)

best regards
Dave

Dave, your a star, Had figured out the rotate through 270deg bit, but as my carbs are 20miles away was stumped as to where the plate mounts to,

The kit was supplied with two cables so I'm off to the workshop tomorrow to see if I can fit it.(hope the misses didn't have anything planned)

Thanks again Dave, Dan.
