Zetec engine numbers

I have a mate at a ford dealership and I want him to run a check on a 2litre mondeo zetec engine (I wanna know its actual year and any history). Is this possible, if so where are the numbers in question on the engine (probably a stupid question but i'll never know if i don't ask!)

Cheers

Yes it's possible. engine mumber is on a flat vertical flange at the very rear of the engine (bell housing flange). on the exhaust side.

ALL fords use the same system with engine numbers, they are the last 7 digits of the chassis number. 2 letters denoting the year and month of manufacture and 5 digits which are sequential.

All the year/month codes are the same for all fords, and the year codes also apply to vauxhall, audi, volkswagen, porsche, seat, skoda and some others. 1980 stated with A , 1981 with B and so on. To my knowlege only ford had the month code. I have the codes if you need them

If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation
