More starter motor woes

Got the strter all cleand up and working OK this morning but it doesn't seem to want to crank the engine, not sure if I've got the right one (should be from a 2.0 DOHC)
Numbers at top 26616D 12
Date 17-90
Type M79(0.9)
Trying to mate it to a 1.8 Blacktop, type 9 bellhousing and CVH flywheel, should that starter work with that set up Rescued attachment sm1.jpg

Yes that should work fine. Its the same starter I had on the flywheel in the sierra.

Whats it doing ? is it spinning is it throwing out ? any crunching or grinding ?

I would re check the wiring

wiring is ok, if its not bolted up to the bell housing, it spins up ok.

when bolted in, it seems to 'click' repeatedly, but not turn the flywheel, as if its shooting forward, but not turning.

could the cvh flywheel be causing the problem?
