Tacho

Just got my hands on a 4cyl smith Tacho to run on my v6 cossy. would it work stright off edis 6 pin 2 or would I need todo the zener diode trick off the coil pack? would it work at all.

Its in the post but im losing sleep over it.

Not sure that a 4-cyl tacho could be adjusted to run off a 6 cyl engine. Maybe not what you wanted to hear

I'm not sure its going to work. Wouldn't your engine fire 6 spark plugs in 2 revolutions? but the tacho is calibrated for only 4 signals over 2 revolutions. So its going to read 50% higher?

As said it would read 50% too high. You could get the tacho recalibrated (or do it yourself if you have some electronics knowledge), but this will involve taking the tachometer apart and changing a component.
