Normal mod on Zetec Inlet Manifold?

Is this a 'normal' modification for an inlet manifold on a zetec or are there better ways to achieve the same and retail the injectors mounted in the manifold? It looks like the manifold has had two inlets cut off, adjusted to fit the width of TB's and then plastic weld/body filler'd back together!

Looks like an ST170 manifold that has been bodged/modified to suit a Zetec - as the ST170 has different shaped ports.

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure

Not a direct answer to your question but the Rover T series alloy inlet manifold with pretty minor work fits the Zetec

Not knowing much about Rovers, do you know exactly what model/size T series?
Thanks.

I don't think that is an St170 manifold. It looks like a standard bodged 1.8-2.0. The injectors are standard zetec as well.
The St170 manifold on a zetec is a bodge anyway imho.

Either way it's scrap.

I've tried a rover turbo T series manifold and wasn't impressed.

All down to budget and if your going single tb or itb.

Don't be tempted by carbs if you need to Iva a black top.

I'm inclined to agree that it is crap and I'm wondering if a fabricated manifold is the way to go. I'm fine with sticking with the throttle bodies that came with it, but the manifold needs to retain the injector mounts.....any bright ideas or examples of what others have done?

All the mult-point M & T series 2 lire engines including the turbo used the same manifold there is even a custom conversion plate available to make it easier. The manifold was for a while popular for some ZETEC and CVH turbo conversions it isn't a perfect match to the ports but close enough, it is on the big side but being alloy can be customized by welding,

If you want one and can't find one locally I have one off a turbo.

Have you considered running the engine on bike carbs ?
Bike Carbs + Dan ST manifold + Nodiz can achieve 170 BHP on a 2.0 Zetec.
A good alternative and very straight forward to install.

I don't really know the options at the moment.....didn't you advise against carbs earlier though?

Having seen a better photo on your other post it is indeed an st170 inlet.

If you can weld make another, laser cut flanges are not dear. Avoid carbs if your putting it through iva.
