Alternator and s/c pulley alignment DIY!

Hi, I'm from the DIY "learned what I know from the Internet" crowd when it comes to locost building.

How far does an alternator pulley need to be "not quite straight" before it becomes unusable? It looks very slight out of alignment and very slightly 'forward' when viewed from top of the engine cover looking down.

I would imagine for a supercharger the tolerances I need to use are much less!!!

Thoughts? Experiences welcome

Alternator v belt you can get away with a couple of mm, ribbed belts must be exact.

Supercharger must be exact and robust as you will be pulling 30hp off the nose of the crank

If it looks wrong now imagine what it will look like at high engine rpm's

Worth spending some time and it getting it as accurate as possible

Having watched a few cars on the rolling road its amazing how much belts move at high rpm's
