1600GT X-Flow - Electronic Conversion

I see a lot off discussion about X-Flows.

I have a New Zealand Lynx based on a Triumph Herald Chassi.

Well I have an old Capri 1600GT X-Flow. standard apart from K&N's. Runs great when warmed up (take 6-10KM's), untill then has real bad smokers cough.

I have seen articles on other locost web sites about fitting distributor/coil out off latter Fords (ie Escort, Fiesta) to get electronic ignition.

Any one any experiance or advice ?? Before I head down the breakers.

Some of the Ford models had different names down here, Lasers are very common.

I got my xflow from a MK1 fiesta XR2, and I believe that it has electronic ignition (nice shiny ali box with motorcraft in big letters connected to dizzy and coil), aparently a blue cap on the dizzy is also a give away (once the box has been in the car for a while it tends to blend in with the engine bay.). I don't claim to know anything at all about these things, and I know MK1 XR2s aren't exactly massively easy to get hold of, but anyway, hopefully it might be of help. I have a vague reccolection that all the American fiesta MK1s had electronic ignition, although bearing in mind how many small cars I saw last time I was in America, it's probably easier to get your hand on an XR2 in England
