Wilwood Caliper Kits?
I am about to start refurbing my donor bits (Sierra) and considering fitting nice shiny new brakes as opposed to the exceedingly rusty bits I have
from the 25yr old donor.
Anyone know if these will do the job? They seem well priced compared to other Wilwood kits.

And while I am on the subject - can I use this one to convert the rear drums to discs?
Rear Conversion Kit
The rears are a bit pricier than the fronts - so any other suggestions that might save some pennies on the rear are welcome.

Exactly same price as Rally Design, Be aware they don't include pads or hoses, as your sierra ones wont fit.

Yeah - I spotted that the pads were additional - mind, the Sierra ones are so badly corroded, I wouldn't want to fit them!

Wouldn't fit anyway, theres nothing you can reuse when you fit these kits unfortunately. Even the discs are different.
They are really good tho, I have a set on the front of mine. So much lighter its unreal.
Don't bother with the wilwood handbrake calipers, they aren't very good. Handbrake wise. Just get the conversion plates and either fit
sierra rears, or the Alloy VW rear calipers (which I used)

Looks like the front kit includes everything I'd need apart from the pads and hoses, so sounds ideal.
Can you explain what's needed for the VW caliper conversion please? Sounds like it might do the job - again, the existing drums are very
corroded and I'd prefer discs anyway.

You'll need those conversion plates which you see in that wilwood kit.
You also need a solid disc from the back of a 2wd Sierra Cosworth, I got mine from Rally Design as they were the cheapest, but its not something they
stock, they got them in for me.
Rear alloy calipers and pads from a A3/S3 or similar, they have fins on the back of the caliper which are the most common caliper.
BUT they wont fit under anything other than 15inch wheels, which is the biggest draw back

ive got 2 pairs of wilwood 4 pot dynalites with discs and ferodo race pads for sale for much less than that!

I currently have sierra rear discs and need to replace one of the calipers, thinking of converting to the vw units. What sliders did you use and what
diameter and thickness are the ford rear discs, that you used?

Would also be interested to find out what's involved with t changing over from Sierra to VW H/B caipers.
Is there much weight to be saved by swapping them?

Quite a big saving in weight, the Vw ones are alloy.
Discs are Ford Sierra RS Cosworth 2wd 1986-1990, Rear discs are 273mm x 10.3mm solid 4 stud.
The calipers and sliders are the Vw ones.
SIERRA RS COSWORTH Drilled Grooved Brake Discs Rear 2wd

Any Vw caliper and slider set that look like this

Handbrake is similar I believe and I used M12x1.0 Banjo bolts on the flexes
You can also source the calipers from seat, Audi and Vw

Don't suppose anyone has done this on a luego. Bit nervous about the potential for significant on costs, given that I am already equipped for
the sierra calipers, but do like the idea of lighter and cleaner looking calipers.
Guess there is always the chance that they will fit the correct way up from a bleeding standpoint unlike the sierra calipers on the luego uprights.

Mines fitted as a direct replacement to the sierra calipers, they fit at the rear of the disc.
Plus you can swap them left to right and the bleed nipple magically rises to the top!!!

Liking this idea.
My calipers are currently at the front. I have seen people put there uprights on either side. But I am sure when building my car, it worked a lot
better this way round. So would need to have a look, but unlikely to make a great deal of difference I wouldn't have thought?

It shouldn't matter, if the calipers are at the front then you don't need to swap calipers left to right as they'll be the correct
way anyway
