Vintage Locost Kit?
Anyone know if theres a locost kit or plans available for one of these anywhere? I rather fancy planning one.....

Gladly. The alternative of course is to make a set of plans which might be better as i could then make the chassis to fit any type of engine.
I was thinking about maybe an old Straight 8 or even 12 would be quite good fun.

ok, shortened MGB rear axle, with MGB front uprights and MGB suspension all round.
MG Wire Wheels
Daimler V12 and gearbox (Not sure if manual - Speedy?)

Go to somewhere like the museum at the Donington Circuit, with your tape measure, find a car that takes your fancy and take some basic dimensions,
with their permission of course. A museum may have drawings of a car in their achieves.

Would be a bit costly but XJ40/X300/some 80's BMW getrag boxes fit with the right bellhousing. A few hundred quid iirc

The louvres and the strange fin behind the front wheels may be an issure but other than that, should be ok

Ive got a good plan for the chassis in my head, made out of seamless stainless square tube. It involves two ladders from the main cockpit to the
front uprights and a section across the front. Suspension turrets would also be made out of stainless plate, to take the springs and shocks.
With the two triangulated ladders either side, and triangulation through the centre between the sides it should be man enough for the job.
stainless hoops for the front and rear bulkheads would be a good enough support for the bodywork and the panels all hand formed ali (what a nightmare
that would be).
Instruments to be basic, and lighting minimal to satisfy IVA - if not built for hillclimbing....

Nice idea.
I remember there was around the late nineties a racecup with modern racecars, but with the same driveline layout. It used a Cosworth 4 cilinder with a
2-2,5 liter capacity IIRC.

That Renault 5 based special had all the glass fibre bodywork done by my mate Stuart. It was featured in one of the kit car magazines and the owner
conveniently forgot to mention that someone else had made the bodywork 
If at first you don't succeed, hide all evidence you ever tried!

If you decide to seriously pursue this, I can try and arrange to allow measurements to be taken at Heritage Motor Centre - although I'm not
entirely sure what single seaters there are. I know there are some, but I can't recall off the top of my head.
Depending on specific measurements required, a Jag/Land Rover engineer may have to accompany you, but still an idea.
Obviously no promises, but thought I'd let you know anyway.
