Hi Richard,

Why are you looking at a tuned Zetec Engine, you could be looking at paying a lot of money without being able to check the internals or how its running if its not in a car??

Two alternative options for you at a reasonable cost....

1. Buy a second hand 2 lt or 2.3 lt Duratec engine and fit a set of throttle bodies and a emerald 3d ECU which will give you the choice of running 3 different engine maps ie:
- Road Map with slightly different power
- Track Day Map for the Oh Sh*t moment
- Map for the days when its wet and you dont want the power with the bang

All of the maps can be selected while the engine is runing

The 2 lt engine with 45 mm Throttle bodies will give you about 190 bhp in standard form.

The 2.3 lt engine will be close to 200 / 205 bhp with 48 mm Throttle Bodies in Standard Form.

This will cost you +/- £200 - £700 for the engine from a scrap yard

Emerald ECU and Jenvey Throttle Bodies will be +/- £2000

2 lt engine with fast road cams will take the power to 210 bhp the 2.3 lt engine will be into the 220 + mark.

A set of Piper Fast Road Cams +/- £600

When moving into the next level the bills start to rack up as you now have to strip the original engine and start changing internals and machining the crank / pulleys for a woodruff key to cope with the extra power and fit higher compression pistons and stronger rods.

The best price is from Andy Williams in Wales as he will supply 12-1 Pistons, Rods and ARP bolts for +/- £700

The other thing to look at is a dry sump from Raceline as this will increase the ground clearance for the road and track.

The other option is to fit a new crate Eco Boost Engine with the potential for +/- 250 bhp with a few tweeks from the standard engine.

Just something to think about

Gazza
