My short sightedness means that I thought a stick would be an adequate way of measuring the fuel in the tank. Its kinda worn thin already!

Are there any fuel level sensors / senders that can be retrofitted to a tank without the need to remove and cut into it?

Oh, and of course not too expensive as well!

you could do it with a sight glass

Other alternatives, a low level warning switch --- or 2 switches at different levels or a mechanical gauge of the type sold for boat tanks.
You can also get very swanky(ie £200) brass mechanical gauges sold for vintage cars.

No matter how you do the tank will have to come out and be steamed out, and any swarf will have to be cleaned out.
