FS TVR 2500M

The time has come to sell my much loved TVR. Massive change in life and move to the other side of the country are the main reasons. Really will miss this car!

Its a 1972 TVR (TAX EXEMPT) with a 2.5 L triumph straight 6 engine in it. Complete with 4 speed gearbox with electronic overdrive. Will quite happily do 100 on a private racetrack.

The engine runs on twin SU carbs with stainless steel sports exhaust. Standard mechanical ignition. Pulls like a steamtrain from 500RPM!

Since I bought it I have rebuilt most of the car including poly suspension bushes, new brakes, new brakelines, spaceframe chassis fully cleaned and painted, re-conditioned diff, new interior, new sound system, new seatbelts, new rear uprights... It is not a true authentic car, I have made some small changes to make the car useable including re-locating the steering rack to remove bump steer etc. I have spent a LOT on this car! I am infact inlove with it, so parting with it will not be easy!

As the car stands it is in perfect mechanical condition, no rust on the chassis, engine and gearbox are in very good condition having been restored by the previous owner.

The body was also recently re-sprayed but would benefit from a good polish!

My next plan with the car was to lower it on some decent coilovers to replace the antique origionals and get some slightly more interesting wheels.

I have done about 500 miles since rebuilding the car over a year ago.. so the tyres and brakes are still almost new!

I do have the chrome steel corner bumpers should you wish to re-fit them.

Looking for around £6500

I am going to seriously consider sending you the money and getting it sent over here. It is a beautiful car. More so, since I remember getting a factory tour in 1978.

I live in Blackpool, and I'm sorry to tell you that the TVR factory has all but closed down. A russian took it over about 8-10 years ago and the business folded a few years later. I believe a rescue bid was staged by the factory employees, but was pretty unsuccessful - the last couple of years there have been a couple of enthusiasts working in the factory on existing TVRs (their own and their mates) but production has ground to a halt.

Shame.

Yeah, I knew all that. Very disappointing. Hard to find real sportscar makes nowadays. Who is left apart from Morgan, Caterham, Mazda, Lotus in the affordable ranges?

Problem is, it is exceedingly difficult to put one on the road in Canada. TVR not so much!

Before anyone comes on and says "no, it's easy, my third cousin did one ten years ago", I will say "maybe, but I am having trouble". Guess you can't generalise too much.
