Just a discussion at work, we guessed between 50,000 and 140,000 but can't find anything on tinternet!

early on in the production of the 747, the word around the plant was "if we can sell 50 of them, we will break even!"

The thousandth flew away many years ago.

I guess Boeing made their R&D money back.
