Broken half shaft

My home- sleeved welded halfshaft broke today (after a bit of kangarooing in a carpark) Nothing dramatic or frightening, but I'm now in the market for some specialist driveshafts. Can someone give me the contact details for GB engineering?
I'll put a photo up later, it's interesting information for the global knowledge pool...

Give Martin @ MK Engineering a call, made my mates up for £70 each, specified length and spline amount etc.

He would'nt of sub'd it out to GB Engineering as they are about 80 miles away.

Might of gone up in price though as he had them done over a year ago.

Cheers G

Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a
car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes
and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.

STM (now Aries) used to be general purveyors of chopped and welded driveshafts. Never heard of one of there's going pop despite being popular on the race scene....

what size are you looking at?

I'm after some and i'm thinking there may be a discount for 4!

Aries wants your old ones in part ex and charges (i think) 70 quid all in.

Some one pointed me at Cassenova who used to do the Leugo cut and shut ones (who i haven't contacted yet) for expensive beer money.

still tempted with a proper job mind you.

I took Mr G's advice & contacted MK who put me on to a very nice man who will make me a pair from EN24T steel for sixty notes each plus P&P so I'm very happy wih that. And he can do it next week.
Mine are mx5 driveshafts so I don't think the "bulk discount" idea will fly....
Thanks everyone. I'll post the photo this evening

picture of the break.

The sleeve was too light material & I think the way the paint is flaking on it shows the strain it has experienced. Rescued attachment halfshaft.jpg

When my mates went luckily the weld just gave out on one end of the sleeved section so the inner half of the shaft just span around in it.

The way yours has gone looks like it could of flailed about

aye - nice sharp end too . . . .
fortunately the failuer was at very low speed, the broken ends are short enough to be kept away from most stuff by the angle limit of the joints. rear brake hose would have been in reach though 8^{

Half shafts arrived Monday, now on - perfect fit, just needed an extra circlip groove putting on. Driven 25yards & feels/sounds fine (it's raining OK!!!!)
Considering how many dimensions could have been wrong, and the quality of my drawings, that's a major achievement!
