Finally got my eldest to take ride.
rf900rush - 28/5/12 at 06:33 PM

Now 8, my eldest finally had a ride out to the shops with me.

Up until this year would not go near it. In his words "too noisy".
He has Downs syndrome, and finds loud (complex) sounds stressing.

Today I had to go to my local shops, and ask, would he like to come for a ride.

So of we went. Never seen him with so much laughter and shouting hello to every on he could.

Just had to take a photo

Brilliant, that's it now though, you will never be able to get him out

Furyous - 28/5/12 at 06:42 PM

He looks ecstatic. I like his T-shirt as well.

That's brilliant. Really brought a smile to my face, as I'm sure it did you.

He looks he really enjoyed it, and will again

rf900rush - 28/5/12 at 07:56 PM

Nice comments.

As for selling it, it's a case of "needs must".

Too much money tied up in something that I get to enjoy only a few times.

The look of joy on the fellas face brought a tear to my eyes.
I am so happy for you that he has had an enjoyable ride in the car !

Kindest regards
Jon

What a bunch of big softies we all are

... and yes, I've got a tear in my eye too

On similar lines, my next-door neighbour is about the same age, and quite autistic. He loves to come and play in the car while it is on the drive ( he is also not happy with the noise) My lads are his pit crew and run around pretending to change tyres while he “drives”. The only time he has been out in it we trundled round the block and saw a fire engine. Obviously all the firemen waved and cheered as we went past. Now when he sees the car he asks if we can go and see the fire engine!

I sure he will have a few more goes yet.

Going to try the school run

His school has had the hairy Harley bikers bring their bikes to school Fair.

That is truly awesome, as stated in an earlier post it really lifts your spirits to see someone made so genuninely happy over something so simple in a world that thrives on the negative rather than the postives in life.

stevegough - 6/6/12 at 07:41 PM

That's a truly great story - certainly brought tears to my eyes, too - these kids are brilliant at lighting their faces up with their smiles and laughter - the world would be a far greater place if people were as genuinely spontaneous as your little chappie!

Thanks for sharing this with us.

Heart warming stuff.

Glad he enjoyed himself, it must have been a very rewarding drive for Dad too!
