SUFFOLK MEAT
type 907 - 15/7/04 at 06:34 PM

HI ALL

Just a reminder about the BBQ on
Sat 24th July 2 o'clock.

If there's anyone in Suffolk or North Essex
who would like to come and put faces to
names, then please join us.
If you know anyone who's building or has
built a car that doesn't use this forum
regularly, then give 'em a nudge.

Family wecome; all I ask is an idea of
numbers.

Lets hope we get a couple of cars to drool
over, and dare I say, some sunshine.

U2U for directions if need be.

Paul G

DaveFJ - 15/7/04 at 08:10 PM

This could cause trouble.

They'll all fight over your sausage.

On a different note; Your new avatar
reminds me of a bloke I work with. Signs
every job with half crowns.

tractorboy - 16/7/04 at 05:22 AM

ill be there, so hopefully i wont get a soaking on the way!

DaveFJ - 16/7/04 at 07:51 AM

Now I'm really p****d off, been waiting to get a look at tractorboy's Avon for months..

Bloody family holidays.....

And we're gonna be camping near inverness...in this weather ?

Just think 2 weeks wasted that could be spent in the garage......

David Jenkins - 16/7/04 at 07:59 AM

Put me down for 2 sausages...

...if wet, in the village hall?

rgds,
David

P.S. I hope you'll U2U some directions before the day arrives!

santcliff - 16/7/04 at 09:07 AM

Hello, did someone mention meat?

I'm up for that, weather permitting etc.

Missus is a veggie, would that be trouble?

u2u-ing

stuart

garage19 - 16/7/04 at 12:13 PM

I will be there. Fingers crossed for good weather.

Santcliff - Any chance of you taking me for a spin round the block? My Indy is nearly finished but I've never had a ride in one (they took the missus out at the factory, more important to impress her. I was already sold)!

See you all then!

Chris Leonard - 16/7/04 at 12:18 PM

Yep I'll be there, stick a sausage on for me. Hope the weathers OK

Chris

santcliff - 16/7/04 at 05:43 PM

quick spin is an option, bring your lid.
not running too smoth and its only a 1.6 pinto but i have fun.

tractorboy - 17/7/04 at 01:33 AM

if any body wants a spin in an avon just bring a lid or at least some sun glasses, youll be able to eat some bugs and therefore more sausages for me yummy!

DaveFJ - 19/7/04 at 08:01 AM

GUTTED...

I expect a full 'top gear' style report on Tractor Boy's Avon

David Jenkins - 19/7/04 at 08:21 AM

You mean, you want his tyres burnt out, his gearbox trashed and the nuts revved off his engine, just like Clarkson does?

David

garage19 - 19/7/04 at 08:48 AM

That Avon looks great - lids already packed in the car.

If its finished in time I will bring along the new inlet manifold I've been working on with a mate. Its for a pinto so might interest santcliff and tractorboy.
Its designed for running a very cheap alternative to 45's! Can you guess?

Paul, as i said before if ther is anything you want us to bring just let us know?

See you then,

Doug.

Ferg - 19/7/04 at 06:02 PM

Curses!! I'd've loved to have popped over in the Libra, Paul, but we're in Cheshire on a narrowboat from Saturday morning.

I'd love to have a look at your Lotus engined machine, about 10 years ago my business partner toyed with the idea of breaking his Sunbeam Rally Car (terminal rot) and wedging it into a Se7en. Westfield weren't particularly interested so we kind of gave up.....I'm only in Hedingham so maybe I could pop over some other time for a peek??

DOUG! Thanks for the alerts mate, sorry I can't be there. You'll be testdriving over my way soon I s'pose!!!

type 907 - 19/7/04 at 06:28 PM

Who are these people who take hols in July ? Why not November when there's nothing else on ?

Perhaps I can post a pic of one of "Mr Humphies home made burgers" sizzling on the grill.

As for "what can I bring", how about photo's of your build, that is, those of you in your tin tops.

Paul G

garage19 - 20/7/04 at 06:37 AM

Don't worry Ferg, I'll pop over in the Libra for you.

Just leave the keys under the door mat!

When the the Indys on the road, I will test drive over and check out your Luego progress. Has the kit arrived yet?

You just got to hope your son sticks with cars and doesn't discover girls before its finished or it will never get done!

Cheers,

Doug.

Ferg - 20/7/04 at 10:05 AM

OK Doug, just don't drive it too fast....

Luego is here....progress slow (learning curve for him), already has girlfriend, more interested in car!!!!

Indeed, a grand afternoon Paul. Perfect weather, burgers, car rides and biscuits (making a last minute appearance), what more could you want?

A few images additional to those already posted:

I might even post up the film I took on my camera if I can compress it down small enough.

Cheers

Nick

tractorboy - 26/7/04 at 04:43 AM

thanks for a great afternoon.its good to meet you all at last and be able to put names to faces.thanks for making me feel so welcome.hope we can do it again soon.

garage19 - 26/7/04 at 06:18 AM

Many thanks to Paul and his wife for their hospitality. It was second to none!

The weather was stunning and all the cars looked great sat on the lawn.

Thanks to Scott for the ride in the Avon.

As for doing it again..... I don't mind volunteering for the next bar b as I have plenty of space.
However it would be just off the A12 the other side of Ipswich so might be a bit further for some of the Essex boys to come?

Many thanks again,

Doug

santcliff - 26/7/04 at 07:03 AM

Excellent burgers. thanks Paul!

But who decided to post a pickie of my car starting up and people scattering to avoid the smoke?

You have an excellent little test track there, just hope the neighbours didn't get too upset.

stuart

Chris Leonard - 26/7/04 at 09:17 AM

Well done Paul - lovely afternoon.

Made it back OK but a minor problem when I got back concerning a smoking hazard switch! - I'll post in the electrical section for some help later!

timf - 26/7/04 at 02:27 PM
