best choice of car for miniture kit car?
speedy123 - 17/11/10 at 10:24 AM

hi guys,
want to build my son a kit car but im undecided on what chassis and shell to imitate and what would be easyist to imitate?
I have come across a mini locost called the "GRASSHOPPER". and quite fancy the look of that but also came across a mini cobra 427 in new zealand but they just sell the whole car and ship it over.
I would prefer to make the car from scratch for him,
any help greatly appreciated
also already had a look on toylander tot rods and that drill powered one on ebay if anyone knows of anymore ide really like to ava look thanks

Just exactly what are you aiming for? Will this be a garden toy or be fully road legal? What are your plans for powering it? Once you know the answers you should just be able to design a chassis that fulfills the requirements.

If it's just a garden toy powered by a small electric motor the just build an elongated cube with triangulation where it matters and bolt the other bits onto it.

If something more complicated then look at a basic seven type chassis and base your own design around that. But you really do need to know how it's going to be powered and what it's going to be used for.

I'm currently designing a monocoque single seater based on a Lola T60, thankfully I've managed to get pictures and info from the Donington race museum, but most will be guess work and trial and error.

hi guys thanks for all the posts, those cobra replica shells are for a pedal kart but maybe with a bit of tweeking it could take an engine.
and those engines you found omg so cool
in regars to sickbags post, i defo want it to take an engine possibly a mini moto or lawnmower engine.
and weve got a bit of land where i live grass and concrete so, wont be road legal hell be bout 4 when i get round to completing it lol but will get plenty of use and plenty of room to use it.
dave do mnr have a website to check out the vortyx

Hi everybody,

I'm very interested by the cobra kit for my daughter. Someone could give me some information (price, dimensions...).

Thank you

Nicolas
