MK Indy Dash Removal
chrisbmxr - 3/4/18 at 02:10 PM

Can anyone tell me how the dash is fixed in place on the Indy (i.e. the front part with the dials in)?

There are no visible fixings on mine at all and I can't feel any behind the panel.

I have some wiring jobs to do which would be much, much easier if it was removed!

Thanks.

Fingers crossed they haven't bonded it on!

If you can't see any fixings on the face they might have bonded bolts to the back of the dash, then using a nut behind the scuttle?

Maybe the dash stays in place and the scuttle is removable. A picture may help.

It'll depend on how the builer built the car.

Did he/she make or buy and fit the dash?

I'd start by poking my hand up under the dash and feeling around the edges. The GRP has a lip to fix to so if you can feel fixings around the edge it might give you a clue.

Failing that you could try and take some photos with your phone/camera (flash on) up behind the dash panel. Again photos may show you what's there.

I fitted mine using dome head stainless socket caps with nylon lock nuts behind:

If you have some dials you can remove such as Speedo or rev take those out and then you can put a stick mirror through and have a good look, as said most are nuts through scuttle to bonded studs on back of dash.

Found it ... there are studs bonded to back of the panel with nuts holding it on.

Thanks for your help!
