R1 exhaust manifold question
Squadge - 10/5/17 at 09:24 PM

Hi everyone, would unequal length exhaust headers cause a problem?
Thanks
Marc

Equal length headers do help with torque and torque spread, but if they're not massively out it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

I've just finished a uni project simulating an R1 engine, I still have the files. At some point after Friday I can run the simulation to see a rough estimate of the effects?

Bear in mind it won't be a like for like comparison, it will just give a general impression of what sort of difference you might expect.

Please if you could, that'd be ace, I've had to make the manifold with unequal length headers due to lack of room, it's not in a kit car it's in a reliant kitten.

Mines un equal lengths, R1 4xv. makes same power as standard, unless you are after real performance and chasing 10ths of seconds on a track etc, then you won't really notice.

Thanks for that Phil,

Last exam today, it will have to be next week before I can run the sim, sorry about the delay! I'm interested to see the results too
