R1 5pw oil light flashing
Squadge - 13/4/19 at 05:48 PM

Hi everyone,

I've got an R1 5pw with the ab performance sump baffle fitted,
I was told to cut the sump sensor out and chop the wire to fit the baffle, now the oil light is flashing, is this normal? and can it be tricked to stop it flashing?
Thanks

If you've cut the wire then yes the light will flash. Try connecting the 2 wires and see if that sorts it. If not use a multi meter to read the resistance across the wires on the old switch (with the float high and try putting a resistor equal to that in line (or rewire the sensor in circuit and hide it away somewhere)...
Or refit the sensor.

Thanks for the reply, I have binned the sensor so not able to do that, does the light also react to oil pressure? Cos if the light is now redundant I'll disconnect the bulb.

It's just an oil level light.

I think I used a calibrated piece of electrical tape to cover the light... It only lights from that sensor and so if you know you've done away with it then it serves no purpose.
