I always use a very good quality semi synthetic oil in the bikes and bike engined cars i've owned
Currently using Putoline Syntec which is listed as synthetic but is not 100%synthetic. Never had any clutch slip issues, retail is about 30 quid for 4 litres.

Everyone will have their own preference when it comes to oil. We use Motul 5100 Technosynthese. Good enough and cheap enough to replace after trackdays or every few thousand miles.

With regard to oil level on the ZX12R, we try to keep it at between half and three quarters full on the sight glass with the engine running. So far, the engine has been fine.

As above but my advice would be :-

1) Always use a good quality semi-synthetic oil on a superbike engine.
2) Make sure it is the correct grade (eg 10W/40 etc) whatever is correct for that engine check with a bike shop or internet etc.
3) NEVER EVER use any engine oil that is intended for cars. Only use oil specifically intended for bikes (the properties of the oil are different to cope with the high shearing forces in the gearbox and the wet multiplate bike clutch (Use of car oil could lead to premature clutch/gearbox demise I understand).
