HOOD/Roof/ convertable cover for locost.

i noticed a few people have like convertable roofs.hoods for there cars.

where do i get one from and what else will i need?

eg screen etc

I believe MK sell them for the Indy they may fit

Doubt it locost is much smaller in width??

Surrey Dave's "Flintstones hood" is a starting point if you want to make your own.

Made one myself, have yet to try it out in rain.. Soft bits for sevens will make you what ever you want but at a price (you will need to fit a screen first, de-mist, wipers, side-screens what ever you do...).

If you want to drive with a roof on you'll need a screen and demisters. If you've got a screen you just need a sewing machine, some waterproof material (lots on Ebay) and some time. Quite a nice little project.... I still haven't used mine with the car moving though. And it's worth thinking about fitting easy-out zips otherwise getting in / out is an exercise in flexibility in the extreme.

If you just want something to keep the wet off when it's stood up, you can get a "car cap" from Halfords and cut n shut to fit, assuming you've got a sewing machine.

For something that you can use when going along, as Ben says, you will need a screen and (probably) demisting, though maybe not if you don't use side screens.

Soft Bits for Sevens will do bespoke but it won't be cheap.

Other than Surrey Dave, Piddy also did a very neat half hood using sail type material; I copied ideas from them and made a Caterham hood into a half hood - got a Caterham screen so it had the front poppers already in the right place, but as standard would no way fit my car.

Have a look in my Photo Archive cost less than £20 can travel 80+ no problem keeps the wet off

I've a hood on my MK and have not got demisters. I have never had an issue as plenty of air still gets in through the gaps which avoids misting up. I also passed MOT without so much as a mention of any heater/demister.

Actually quite accurate.. Before a few mods on mine to increase the tension in the fabric it was a bit like driving a tent at 60mph...

The Indy is exactly the same width as a Locost at 42". The difference is the chassis height and the angled bit next to the driver's elbow.
The reason MKs look bigger is usually the wider arches most peeps fit to keep the driveshafts standard.

The MK weather equipment should fit ok, but note the critical dimensions of roll bar height and screen position.
