thanx

Phone your local dvla office, or go there, fill the forms in, arrange an appt for inspection, pay for inspection and tax.

For new reg you'll need new receipts for all but 1 recon part.

When you visit dvla office, take all recepts and mac plus 2 proof of identity.

Why do you think you might have a problem with your vin No.?

Roger

t16turbotone - 27/6/09 at 07:37 AM

because i read something on this forum implying that it must start with an S mine doesnt, and 0 and 1 must not be used....i have used both!!

Well done Tone, I'm in exactly the same position as you, just dealing with the DVLA now.

My chassis number doesnt begin with S, and the only thing that VOSA wanted changed was that i'd used a 'I' and they wanted me to use a '1'. The DVLA hasnt said anything so far, and my Inspection is on thursday.

rgrs - 27/6/09 at 07:51 AM

ok, shouldn't matter what letter it starts with, however you can only use 0 not o and you can use 1 but not i.

where did your chassis no come from i.e did you make it up or was it issued by the manufacturer.

Think it all depends on the local office (again!). Mine begins with A and has an I in it (maybe because it forms part of the manufacturers name though so it couldn't really be a 1)

t16turbotone - 27/6/09 at 08:06 AM

thanx for all the replies, mine is a scratch build , no kit, made the number up myself, looks like i may have a chance, any advice on insurance? the cost of all this is gettin kinda excessive now!

rgrs - 27/6/09 at 08:33 AM

For insurance try adrian flux with trinity lane as the underwriters as they have no time limit on chassis no. insurance, most other underwriters will only give you 1 month after which the policy becomes invalid.

Don't bother phoning first.

You just talk to someone in Swansea.

I went in today to the Oxford DVLA. Pretty helpful.

For some reason I need insurance before they will process my paperwork (weird as I can't drive it until I have the paperwork, and I can't drive to inspection).

I am told that going in to the office means that they can sort it in a couple of days!!!

DVLA Inspection appointment is this time next week.
I rang swansea and the VOSA people thought it steeyoooopid (I guess this means stupid) that I needed an inspection.

Do you think I can just turn up, and get is done? I hear people have done that.

The suns shining!
