Take him to court, then smash his face in.

jabbahutt - 25/11/10 at 02:53 PM

Any photos of the shoddy work and where is he based?

StuartBJ - 25/11/10 at 02:58 PM

Fella,

Sorry to see that! Hope you get it all sorted. Whats the latest on the court case?

All the best
Stuart

Hasn't this conversation already taken place months ago? Didn't you take him to court like you said?

Photos of the car on his post "Happy days" from August this year when he got it through the IVA.

i'm guessing from the post and the dates, the car passed its IVA, but the owner only picked it up last week due to the dispute about money, so he paid and picked it up only to discover the workmanship.

interestedparty - 25/11/10 at 03:36 PM

Interested to know how that qualified for a new reg? Is that engine actually new?

Looking at this old thread
http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=135519&page=1
seems the labour rate is £40 an hour, and the £4600 included the IVA and registration, so I'm guessing that he estimated 100 hours work, and it turned out to be quite a lot more.

I think we need a lot more detail here, really.

ABOUT 2 DAYS AFTER I GOT THE CAR HOME I GOT CP JOB DOWN IN LONDON SO THE CAR HAS HAS BEEN IN THE GARAGE UN TOUCHED SINCE THAT DAY. IVE JUST COME HOME FOR THE DAY AND MANAGED TO PUT THE CAMERA AND LAPTOP TOGETHER.
TRADING STANDARDS ARE BUILDING A CASE FOR ME AND INVESTIGATING EVERY THING.

MY CP JOB ENDS IN 2 WEEKS SO I CAN MAKE THE REPAIRS GOOD AND IT WILL BE BACK ON THE ROAD.

I WANT EVERYBODY TO KNOW WHAT A USELESS C**T HE IS AND NOT LOSE ANY MONEY.

Engine doesn't have to be "new" you are allowed one part reconditioned up to a "as new" standard

If you are an amateur builder, IIRC.

Confused but excited. - 25/11/10 at 06:15 PM

I don't know the full story but judging by the videos........I'd lock and load.

imp paul - 25/11/10 at 06:19 PM

i have had the same problems with a car builder its not nice i do hope you come out of it well good luck

Bluemoon - 25/11/10 at 06:32 PM

I would probably delete this thread you might jeopardize any legal action required. In fact I don't think I would have put anything on U-tube..

I realize that you feel the need to vent/tell people to avoid but this might backfire..

Looking good from the outside, but that's all that's good about it:

Thinking about it, that might be good advice. If the OP makes a claim against this firm, then there's obviously scope for a counter claim there, as the firm could claim damages for slander if the OP can't actually prove he's been ripped off.

It's clear the OP is well pissed off about the whole situation, but he isn't really giving enough detail and it's sounding a bit like a rant but with no backing. The videos show stuff that is wrong but they don't prove who did or didn't do the wrong/missing stuff. IIRC the last time there was a rant against these people the guy that runs Irntam posted some almost unintelligible responses but they might have had some truth in them.

Was there an actual contract, and what did it say, and were any changes made as the job went along ? (happens all the time to building firms, they get asked to do other stuff 'while they're there' )
