Engine age question

Hello all.

I have tried to post a welcome newbie but not working. I tried to post in welcome back but won't let me.

SO straight into questions.

I've had no dealing with SVA/IVA since 2004 when my tiger Supercat came onto the roads.

I have a 1992 1.8ltr Zetec and (Letter from Ford) confirmation and wondered is the law on pre 1995 engines and no catalyst needed still the same.

I only ask as it's been dry stored since 2009 and I put a new engine in so looking at selling as i'm cleaning out my garage

cheers

Matt

Whatever it was tested with stays with it for life afaik, so if it is already on the road it makes no difference the log book will tell you it's limits. If going through Iva as a new build now then the pre-1995 blue smoke test still applies afaik. Iva manual is available on line if you need to check.

That's not completely correct.

New build with pre 1995 engine still has to pass emissions but no CAT required.
I cannot quote the figures but they are quite easy with a good engine.

No smoke is MOT with a Q plate.

Changing engine post IVA does not change emissions from the IVA'd figures.

cheers for that, I was hoping that the engine would pass without a cat for pre95.

the engine is out of the car as I changed for a 2ltr 6 years after I got the tiger on the road.

I wanted to find out if the IVA changed anything with regards to engines and cats but seems not.

The engine in question has been dry stored and i'm looking at putting up for sale soon. just getting the info I need prior to doing so

Do you mean you are going to be selling the pre-1995 engine complete with the letter from Ford confirming date of production?
