am i right in assuming theres no way to get a 2.0 zetec (2002) through IVA on emmisions if running on carbs ?

correct, will need to be pre 1995 for no cat

With a good Cat and well set up anything is possible - but its unlikely.

Also, you will need a letter from Ford to prove the engine age. (v5 from donor is rarely acceptable)

Pretty sure they started charging a few quid to do it but cant find the post mentioning that.
