BEC mot reverse question
number-1 - 25/3/19 at 08:49 PM

If a BEC has passed an IVA recently and due its first MOT, would it be expected to have a reverse gear fitted to pass? Reverse was fitted at time of the IVA

Cheers

Nothing in the MOT test regarding a reverse.

Electric one won't pull the car out of the brake rollers anyway!

2009 on reverse lights are part of the test now

Are you sure there's no exemption on that, possibly vehicles new after 2009? but even if not, that is a requirement for a reverse light NOT for a reverse gear

Common sense would say no reverse gear no requirement for a light . Not something I would fail but that’s just me

Might be a good idea to actually ask the testing station you intend to use? The only thing I would be concerned about is getting stuck in the brake rollers if the tester tries to use them . Unless things have changed since I was last testing (3 years) the brakes should be tested using a Talley meter
