Cortina / Sierra Front Hubs
the_big_1 - 19/7/16 at 09:21 PM

Hi Guys,

I am looking at renewing my front wishbones etc.
Some online designs, parts state for Sierra hubs etc where as my hubs are Cortina.
From a mounting point of view, is there a huge differance in the two?

Cheers!!!

Yes. Over-all dimensions are bigger. They are heavier. The top hole for where the damper slots into is larger diameter. The actual geometry is different. Stick to Sierra hubs. It is still possible to use the Granada Brakes, BUT, you will have to do some research to find discs that fit (I think the ones I used were from Capri). You can still use most of the Granada back end, BUT, better if you can source from a later Scorpio Granada as these used four bolt wheel fitting the same as Sierra. I went through all this when I built my Luego Viento. HTH's

As above the geometry is different - doesn't mean you can't use them but it would involve alot of reworking...

The std mk3 Granada actually uses the same brakes as the sierras with abs or 4x4 (not cossie)

So it's the 260mm discs from an XR4i or bog std model with abs will let you use the Granada calipers on sierra hubs with no mods

Hi,

I have all Granada front hubs and brakes. Fitting spacers to calipers to use vented Capri 2.8i discs.
Guess I will have to the wishbones special made then.

Cheers!

Which version of the Granada hubs have you got?

the_big_1 - 20/7/16 at 07:54 PM

Hi,

Not sure.
They are solid discs, mounted to the inside of hub.
The wishbones match dimensions almost perfectly to the "Book" ones. They have the transit drop link top ball joint.
Bottom is a four bolt.

Cheers

Got any pictures?

The early mk1 & 2 Granada's are totally different from the ones we were talking about above....

are you 100% sure that its Granada hubs (normally 5 studs) and not the Cortina ones (4 stud and more common)

cortina ones:

for reference the mk3 granada (85 - 94) that me and jollygreengiant where talking about above are like this:
http://eucatparts.com/?action=cat_ford_part&s_id_part=15684&s_id_model=66&s_code_image=Z001845800

which is very similar to the sierra and the later Scorpio (so similar that thats actually the sierra one in the picture with its 4 stud hub)
but is completely different from the earlier cars
