What's my engine worth
TheHighlander123 - 25/9/16 at 07:45 PM

As above,

As you know I have a 1700 xflow 711m engine
It has 12k on it but was rebuilt 800 ish miles ago due to a cracked crank.

Rebuilt - Rods, new crankshaft, head gasket and all other gaskets, full tune done to the engine also - I have the invoice for £974

The spec

711m
Twin 40s
Burton Power rocker cover
Big valve head
Ported/Polished
Forged pistons modified for the valves
New rods
Kent cam
Shortened and Baffled sump
Race crank from a Formula Ford race car (had done 20miles)
4 branch manifold
Rev limiter
Facet fuel pump
Distributer and uprated ignition leads
Lighting unit

Type 9 box
Uprated clutch

Basically the ready to run kit with exhaust etc

Just wondering if it's worth selling or hanging onto.

I am doing a bike conversion over winter - Didn't plan to do this but deicded its the route i want to go down.

Your title might not get the response your after as running gear is usually the control side of a car nothing to do with production of power

I split mine 4 years ago when I sold it I got about 1k for it and it was quite cheap which at the time seemed pretty good but I guess you should get 1k to 1.5k for it ! Best if you can get an advert on some classic ford forums

AS a general rule with engines i think their always worth more if folks can hear them running or better still actually drive the car the engine is in

So if its still in the car, I'd leave it there until its sold
Unless it HAS to come out...

If you come up with a price I might be interested, I just missed out on a zetec/gearbox combo, so crossflow/gearbox is another option.

Only thing is I'm down in Staffordshire, so transport might be tricky/expensive. Do you ever travel down this way / part this way?

Thanks
Adam

I could sort out delivery buddy, my company is based next to a TNT depot so could pallet it no problem or even meet you.

I'm not too sure on a price, its a cracker of an engine which was just built by the XFLOW Guru Ricky Gauld Performance.
