Dash Flocking Etc
RWD Focus - 3/11/15 at 09:38 PM

Ive been flocking my own and mates stuff for a while now using professional quality equipment with very good results and am thinking of starting another business offering a flocking service. (i already have 2 successful businesses running now doing other things).
Is it something that anyone on here would be interested in, do you have much flocking done. I know mine and many other rally cars have flocked dash boards etc.
Its also a great way of making an old cracked dash look good.
Any interest from members of this forum. I know there are a few companies already doing flocking but from what i can see, not very many.
Would be based in West Yorkshire but would offer a mail order service too.
Any thoughts?

Your right flocked stuff does look good

The owner of Auto Flock in North Wales is a user on here

His flocking is very good quality.

Hi that sounds interesting I have heard about flocking a dash, can you show some pictures of the finished article?

I will get some pictures posted up later today of the dash in my rally car

What's it like for cleaning? Our cars generally don't have roofs so are exposed to dust and rain etc. It is something i'm also interested in for my dash to hide a few sins which i was going to hide with dinoc carbon effect vinyl

We clean it in rally cars with a soft brush, it can also be hoovered. Wipe over with a soft damp cloth, various ways but obviously better to try not to get it to dirty.
Rally cars suffer a lot with dust and it manages to be cleaned easily enough.

Is it water proof?

RWD Focus - 4/11/15 at 07:57 PM

Yes, the nylon fibres are waterproof and so is the special adhesive. I have coated interior panels for the boat building industry where water resistance is always a requirement.

Nr Leeds, couple of mins off either M1 or M62. A bare dash i.e. Peugeot 205, Focus, DS3 size is £75, facia parts like radio surrounds etc £25.
That said easy item is quoted individually when an enquiry is made.

I would think the market is quite small for 7 type cars, but the price is good.
Keeping it clean will be a worry on any open top (founded or not).
HSE issues would need to be taken seriously to protect yourself/workers during application etc. You will need the paper trail in case of long term issues (not that hard). If people working for you don't follow procedures to stop inhalation of the fibres/glues there could be long term health effects.
If you don't restrict yourself to cars I would think the market is big enough for bespoke items..

Id be interested in having the top my fury dash done. It reflects the light from the windscreen and at night is worse.

Any ball park price points?
