i want to get rid of the carpet from the floor on my indy, thought about checker plate, but seems a bit "industrial" any other options? any pics of what you;ve done?.

I'm interested in any idea's too, to be honest I'm tending towards treating the floor with rust remover, then seeing what simple black hammerite looks like.
When I bough it, the car already had checker plate in the drivers footwell, looks OK, but am thinking of maybe a non-slip rubber mat cut to shape instead?

I used ali chequer plate on top of the steel floor, but I did think of using that industrial rubber matting with raised circles on it if you know what I mean:

I've got rubber flooring that has little raised diamond shapes on it. I wanted the industrial look!

In reality I wanted flooring that wouldn't get spoiled if it got wet (no roof, no windscreen). In the same way, I've got GRP seats with vinyl pads.

Oh - it also stops the welded steel floor 'bonging' every time I climb in.

whats a cheap source of ali chequer plate guys? laast time I looked it was bloody expensive.

this might sound daft at first but !!!!!
what about that textured lino stuff from carpet shops they do all sorts of textures immitation chequer plate industrial effects
diamonds and ripple weaves etc and it would be simple to cut and fit and waterproof

Steve, the rubber mats also look quite smart, can I ask where you got the rubber? I'd need to get some cutting practice in before I attempted it, but seems ideal for what I want!

I have a CoachTrimmers in the next town so i bought some off them.

They do have a webshite though, and they do deliver.

They were also at Stoneleigh last year so I assume they might be there this year too?

Just found this thread, Somebody stole a picture of my car

I got my floor from "Here" its 1.5mm aluminium 3 bar (cricket weave) down at the bottom of the page on the link,

I've used it over a steal floor so didn't want Checker plate to thick and heavy, the guy i spoke to couldn't of been more helpful, all cut to size and delivered for £40

Although I'm starting to have withdrawal symptoms with the lose of my lovely carpet

After the powder coating on my floor lifting I painted it with rustproofing paint and when it was dry I stuck on some self adhesive anti slip .Does what it says , now my feet don't slide about and going to do the passengers side as well . Stuff I used was left over from a wheel chair ramp but is similar to skateboard decking.

I have ribbed rubber on my floor,bought it from Camping and general (caravan step rubber)

I used industiral floor covering stuff. The kind of none slip Lino type stuff that they stick down in hotel kitchens etc. Done in lots of colours and lighter than lino, rubber and ally checker.

After seeing how good locoR1's floor looks i decided to order some from metalsdirectuk, but they've just bout ran out, only got small pieces left and they can't get any more, extremely helpful chap tho...

I'm doing my best sheep impression as well! LocoR1 floor looks amazing so I also called metalsdirect.

Completely stupid question now but..... They asked for measurements. did you send a template or just measurements? don't suppose you still have the measurements that I can steal from you?

i am very new to this locost thing, didn't build just bought my MK indyblade ready made. i'm starting to tinker but having to start with the very basics.

Hi, I just had them cut to size as rectangles then cut the angles for the front two with a jig saw.

Didn't keep the measurements but they wouldn't be any good to you anyway the tunnel on an indy is different especially at the front.

I was thinking of using a thick kevlar weave with trimmed edges (no epoxy). Id go for carbon but its pretty abrasive and I dont think it hold up to constant rubbing well either. Anyone know for sure?
