Tech2 software will only work with Tech2 hardware.

There are other options, what are you trying to do?

Read fault codes and live data on an 05 movano

You should be able to do that with EOBD.

You could try a chinese clone OP-COM but to say they are poorly made would be an under-statement. Sometimes they work.

I have a micro scan 3 reader but it won't talk to it

All diesels had to be EOBD compliant by 1 Jan 2004 but most were long before that, so should work.

Looks like you have a comms issue on the vehicle.

Did that include commercials

you need op-com!
ive got it and used it a few times, not for a diesel though.
programmed new keys,read faults etc.
