alfas - 13/12/15 at 07:18 PM

hi all together,

i´m searching a locost.

preferably a race / track car with full roll-cage. no problem if the car would come with some paperwork (also, no matter if it would say dutton)

any offers welcome...please sent PM.

We really really frown upon ringed cars on this forum
We worked really hard to get our cars through IVA and legally on the road
Go away

omg...paranoia?

i´m not after i ringer, but i´m not afraid of it...so a potenital seller should not be kept away offering a car, even it it would be not correctly registered, as it would be used as track-car only , anyway.

so YOU should go away from this thread please!!!!

I think the "Street" in the title and the fact that you would prefer it to "come with some paperwork" point to driving it on the road not purely a track car. It would have been helpful if you had stated this in the original post.

On that basis I can understand snapper's response, perpetuating incorrectly registered cars is not in the spirit of this forum.

However, if you intention is to use it purely for the track (then registration is not necessary and would be trailered to the track) then it be worth adding an addendum to this fact on you original post.

It wouks also be useful if you let us know a budget and a preference for bike/car engine, the more specific you can be the more helpful people can be.

For ferks sake, let the poor bloke have a car if he wants one while any saints or potential saints can go and beat themselves with their own V5's.

this thread shouldn´t be used for any discussions. i have corrected my original posting. hope now its more clear!!

its solely about searching a car.

the please be so kind and concentrate on that. thanks a lot.

I'm with snapper on this one. The advert is asking for a car and states that one with dodgy paperwork is fine. In my book, buying or selling cars that are incorrectly registered is a big no-no.

+1.

And I don't really see how you can moan about people picking you up on it. You are blatantly saying you'll take a dodgy registered car. If you don't want to do owt wrong why ask for a car with shady docs?

what i forgot:

i´m prefering an old school car with live-axle and x/flow engine, likte the cars which run in the 750 locost series, but would be great if it would already have a 1600engine fitted

JacksAvon - 15/12/15 at 07:47 PM

£5000 for that car is a good price.

What is your price range?

daniel mason - 15/12/15 at 07:49 PM

my last locost, where the chassis was built by a well known company (so not a homebuilt one), built 2003, car completed / finished 2011, 200miles after built, all suspension and chassis black powder-coated like new. body bit scruffy painted with rattle-cans, new avon shocks, fully polybushed, adjustable panhard rod, new floor mounted bias pedal box with willwood masters and residual pressure valves, braided hoses all around, new brakes all around, new yoko semi´s with new group 4 minilites, freshly rebuilt 1300 x/flow engine to locost spec. freshly rebuilt english axle with 3,9 diff, alloy fuel tank. new wiring loom, new instruments, full rollcage welded in, sparco steering wheel, sparco quick-release, 2 new GRP bucket seats. new seat belts. car equipped with lights / indicators. FIA main power switch, small Varley Red Top racing battery with alloy bracket, new raiator with all new hoses, lucas electronic ignition with bosch dizzy.

i bought it for 1800 pound in 2013 and used the car succesfully for 1,5 years without a single problem. i needed some money for financing something else, so i sold it with some upgrades like 1600 engine, stage 3 head, 234kentcams, adjustbale timing chain & timing chain cover with inspection cover. twin dellorto 40ies, hi-spec ultralight 4-pot calipers, rear alloy diffusor and some other aerodynamic improvements at the front, for 2500. meanwhile i have collected some money and i´m looking for something similar now.

budget? what should i say....reading the above spec.....
