Kit car wanted - update.
Banana - 22/8/16 at 12:33 PM

So after the last few months of searching for the right kitcar, I've come to the conclusion i really want a BEC.
However, still open to a CEC if it caught my eye.

Half built projects, or cars needing some TLC would be great. As it would give me something to do over winter (and more chance of a bargain)

After viewing ebay/gumtree etc religiously for the last 3 months, it does seem to be a buyers market, and i have missed out on some real bargains. Much to my annoyance. And i really don't want to spend much more the 5K.

But please get in touch if you think we can do a deal.

Thanks

Hi Banana

I'm considering selling my Striker rolling chassis (road registered)

The car has just had a bare chassis rebuild with loads of new bits.

Let me know if it's something you'd consider.

Thanks

Wyn

Look at this on eBay MK INDY R BIKE ENGINED KIT CAR

This is good value if you have the capability to fit a reverse of some sort and IVA it

Yeh, i cant really spend 5K plus and still have to IVA it.... Maybe if it was cheaper.

Jeano - Not unless you want to drop the price by 4k ?

That there would be an easy return on effort for someone willing to fit a reverse and IVA it.

CosKev3 - 22/8/16 at 05:53 PM

Surely if you say you want a project for over winter it would be ideal?

Doesn't matter if you blow your budget buying it now, surely you can afford to spend circa £5-600 over the winter months getting it IVA ready?
Then it's just the IVA fee in the spring?

Yeah that's my thoughts

Banana - 22/8/16 at 06:18 PM

Yes but is it ever just the IVA fee?

Surely if it was that easy, the currant owner would have done it and stuck 2k on the price.. (does look very nice though)

Mick - I sometime think i enjoy the chase more than the kill (so my family tell me)
I'll find the right one soon.

So you are expecting to buy a car for 5 grand that the likely hood is someone's built it in there garage and it won't cost you any money to keep it roadworthy?

sonic - 22/8/16 at 06:58 PM

As he said he likes the chase rather than the kill, at some point you need to either S--T or get off the pot though!

Banana - 22/8/16 at 07:33 PM

Of course not.
But i dont want to pay 5k and know i will have best part of grand to outlay on it, BEFORE any other issues are found.

Something like this
Locost fireblade engined kit car unfinished project

or this
locost kit car jenvey throttlebodys k9 ecu not lotus 7

Just a shame they are both the furthest possible distance from me..
I don't think im being unreasonable..

Both of those need quite a lot more work, and both need testing.

Bet they don't go for much less than the MK

Banana - 22/8/16 at 07:43 PM

Both are 3.5k.
Locost is on Gumtree.

Always seems to be bargains in Scotland !

Might be out of your budget but I am selling my 2015 registered MX5 westfield for £6995

Banana - 22/8/16 at 08:15 PM

Yes, that would be a stretch..

Thank you anyway.

Chris_Xtreme - 22/8/16 at 11:02 PM

you probably don't want to do this, but when the only v8 Xtreme came up for sale, I bought it blind and fingers crossed. someone from shiply couriered it for me..

might be worth a gamble on the scotland ones and a few hundred quid delivery ? !

samjc - 23/8/16 at 07:00 AM

So whereabouts are you, if you are after something nearby?

AdamR20 - 23/8/16 at 01:29 PM

My Fisher Fury will be for sale shortly, or immediately if you prefer. I planned to get it MOTd then sell, but if you wanted to take it as-is that's fine by me. £4795 as it is now, or £4995 with 12 months MOT.

Currently not MOTd but has a V5 and has been on the road before. I have all the bits with it, just needs headlight switch wiring in (headlights are in, wiring is done), fog light fitting, speedo fitting, mirrors fitting and away you go. 919 blade engine with stick shift, shift lights, baffled / billet sump (top gauge on video below is oil pressure - holds 5bar even at ~1.4g), fresh Fuchs Pro4 fully synth 15w50 oil and filter, clutch pedal ratio modified to give a much more forgiving bite point (easier to pull away and smoother downshifts), Bailey Morris prop (modified by NorthWest Propshafts), live axle, helical LSD with 3.54 ratio, CXR wheels with almost new A048Rs, GRP seats with adjustable drivers headrest, Momo suede wheel (nice and fresh, not old and crusty), decent quality 4 point turnbuckle harnesses on both sides, full cage, 4 pot brakes all round (Wilwood front, HiSpec rear) with bias bar and adjustable brake bias in cockpit, go kart calipers and modified MX-5 lever for handbrake, Avo dampers, front splitter, custom fitted cover, low-line full cage with extra hoop (I'm 5ft9 for reference). Also have a spare 919 engine with what looks to be a reconditioned head that can go for £500 with the car if wanted.

Bad bits: Weird paintjob, panhard rod mount on chassis has been rewelded by someone recently and not re-painted yet, the odd gelcoat crack and dodgy headlight covers as is normal for these, but it's all very functional. Wiring behind the dash is a tangled mess, but is labelled up and works fine.

My feeling is it could be exactly what you're after... works as it is, but scope to tinker and improve value if you wish.

Only have the two pics from a track day last week, but can get more if you like.

Im in Suffolk. Happy to travel - Last weekend i drove to Southampton to view a dud.. but Glasgow etc might be a stretch.

I just bought this on ebay MK Indy Fireblade

What a bargain!! However - the seller sold it just as i was arranging transport... Nice of people to honour their listings.

Adam - i will u2u you when i get home..

thanks

Banana - 4/9/16 at 04:01 PM

Another update - And Im still looking!

Yet another sale has fallen through today sadly. The seller got a better offer at the last minute. So just one of those things, but im really gutted..

So cash waiting for a BEC towards the 'lower' end of the price spectrum. Needs to accommodate a tall bloke.

CosKev3 - 4/9/16 at 05:10 PM

Plenty more tyres to kick yet I'm sure

nero1701 - 4/9/16 at 05:27 PM

Acht, next summers round the corner.....

Banana - 4/9/16 at 05:30 PM

That'd almost be funny if it wasn't my time and money being wasted Kevin.

I do feel for ya mate,

How about this?

2004 MK Indy Fireblade 919cc

Banana - 4/9/16 at 05:34 PM

That was one of the ones that fell through.

I can understand the sellers reasons though and i'd have probably done the same in his position.
