Ford hazard stalk fitting
AlexXtreme - 23/5/17 at 02:38 PM

I need some help with getting a replacement hazard light fitting for my Sierra Stalk - mine is broken. At the moment the car has failed it MOT because the bulb needs to be red :-(!
This is the red cover for the bulb https://goo.gl/photos/qvRnFWMFKHVLqy9bA

It has a round top that is around 8mm deep with a square section that slots over the bulb (this broken off in the picture.... does anyone have one of these hanging around that I could buy?

What other options are there? Can I paint the bulb red (with the suitable paint = around £4) and will this pass the MOT??
I have looked on ebay and other on-line shops over the last few weeks and had no louck. There are some like the picture but not the same.

You could look for a car breakers and see if they have one or perhaps a Sierra laying around. Failing that ebay may have what you need.

had searches on ebay for the last 2 weeks with no luck...
Also tried a couple of ford specialist breakers with no luck - any suggestions of breakers?

I just looked in the mot manual,

quote:

Hazard warning devices are not required on vehicles first used before 1 April 1986, but if one is fitted it must be tested.
The hazard warning lamp ‘tell tale’ may be a separate light or the same as the indicator ‘tell-tale. However, it must be a flashing light.

edit: what is the actual failure as printed on the form?

it said flashing red light.... sounds like it just needs to be flashing! I must admit though it is not easy to press without the plastic red cover

You could try Silverlake...

http://www.silverlake.co.uk/

Not sure if they'd have older cars or parts though.

tried Silver lake and they do not do cars this age...
just done some image searching (dont you love Google!) and I found that it is a Ford Fiesta Mk2 Light
and found this one...

If I can not find anything else by the end of the day - I will get it.

As the indicator is too close to my fingers... and I will now have a spare, has anyone tried straightening one of these to create more clearance? Or does the plastic just break??

Cheers

is yours a mk1 or mk2 switch?
is the outer shape of the missing bit round or square

Huttojb - 24/5/17 at 04:15 PM

I have one in the garage, will go and have a look tonight and post a picture.

The outer section that is missing is square section
From what I can tell it is a mk2 Fiesta button

You were ahead of me then...Silverlake are the name I know locally. I can imagine they don't do mkII Fiesta parts though, not many of them left these days! Funnily enough I saw a B reg mkII XR2 last night and thought to myself "that's lovely" (brought back younger memories).

AlexXtreme - 25/5/17 at 12:19 PM

Hi Nick, I also liked those old XR2 with the x-flow and a good friend of mine had one... not the fastest car but sounded great!
I notice that you are not far from me. Are you back driving? My wife has just had the same situation as you and is off the road now for at least 6 months BTC...
