Sierra Diff
cs3tcr - 17/8/07 at 03:52 AM

I'm after a sierra diff. Looking for something in decent shape, and for a seller willing to ship to Canada.

Dont need a LSD or anything fancy, just something thats useable.

Cheers,
Rod

Inspite of you not wanting anything fancy, it might be best to suggest what ratio you are looking for.

7 or 7.5" wide too?

Diffs are blooming heavy and fairly big!! I expect postage is going to cost a fair bit! Don't they have Sierras clogging up all the scrapyards in Canada?

A quick look on parcelforce says you'll be looking at around £150 to ship 26kg. Might be cheaper options but worth bearing in mind.

Not sure if Sierra's made it to Canada. The Merkur XR4ti was available in the US and had a 7.5 open diff with a 100mm flanges.

Some other info I had gathered at one time. The source seemed knowledgeable.

""
Standard base model sierra had a 7" diff with 100mmm flange
Sierra XR4x4 had a LSD 7" diff with 100mm flange
Sierra (2wd) Cosworth had a LSD 7.5" diff with 108mm flange
Sierra (4wd) Cosworth had a LSD 7" diff with 108mm flange

The half shafts are interchangeable amoung the 7.5" diffs, so
wouldn't be to dificult to put the (Cosworth) 108mm flanges into a
stock Merkur diff or visa-versa.

Well, looks like a 7" with 100 mm flanges. Ratio isnt that important, would like something around 3.6 to 3.9 (or what ever ford offered).

As for shipping i've got a supplier in the UK who could put it in one of the crates we have flown over, or if its possible to ship it right to my consolidator. I'm assuming that this would be a cheaper option.

As for Sierra's in Canada, the closest we came to one of those was the XR4TI, and these days they're getting rarer and rarer.
