Not an original Dutton feature, I suspect. Unless anyone knows better???

I think they had a leaf spring above.

The three link arrangement is similar to the way the Lotus 7 had the axle mounted. It puts a lot of stress into the axle casing, so only suitable if you have a strong axle (cracking was a common problem on the Lotus).

However the panhard rod shows a lack of experience and understanding, it's way too short which will cause unnecessary lateral movement as the axle rises and falls.

That's a Triumph Herald (or Spitfire) independent rear suspension. Did Dutton use this before settling on a Ford-based set-up?

The pic referred to in my previous post showed a live axle set-up.

My Dutton B Type (1970) used the Triumph Herald/Spitfire suspension front and rear as shown above.
The early Lotus Cortina used an A frame mounted to the diff which was soon modified because it destroyed the diff casing.
I've not come across the other setup before.
