Firefox 8 is rubbish
Mark Allanson - 25/11/11 at 07:44 PM

It is incredibly slow, I struggle to scroll up and down web pages, loading new pages is dire. My connection is over 6meg and occasionally approaches 8 meg.

Has anyone else had similar problems? I await a fix or will have to move over to chrome

Much quicker on netbook when booted in Xp ---- very few addons installed. Not tried in Linux

Pants on my computer. Slow, doesn't obey the mouse half the time and the mouse arrow suddenly jumps to odd places on the screen. Perhaps it's time for new mouse batteries.

No, just sorted it, if you go from Firefox 7 to 8 on an update it is pants. Uninstall Firefox and use Firefox reinstaller (Internet Explorer!) to do a fresh install of Firefox 8.0.1, NOT ff 8.0.0

Now working perfectly

Why use FF8 when you can use Firefox 9 or if you are really brave why not Firefox 10. I know they are Beta versions but they work OK on my laptop.

I'm running it on a laptop with XP and have had no problems.

Runs fine on 2 W7 PC's, W7 Netbook and a XP Laptop.

Apart from stability the problem with using Firefox alphas and betas is addon compatibility (usually this can be fudged) but is usually better to use the official verson and wait for a month or so before installing.

Working fine on Linux Mint, seems pretty much as quick as chrome.
