MakeEverything - 31/3/10 at 04:59 PM

Just got in from a spa day near Birmingham, to find a fkin CHICKEN in the garden?? - Yes, a LIVE one too!

Spoke to the RSPCA, and they said well, if youre happy to keep it, build a coop, and put it away at night!

So, we gained an unexpected household pet today! The kids will lvoe it!

Lol, we have chickens. Probably came from a neighbour. They dont usually stray very far from home.

Down side is of the 15 or so we have, 85% are cockrels, noisy buggers!

Well, after the naming ceremony (We called it Google) and going to wickes to buy some timber and chicken wire, the little bastard flew away!
Shortest ever career as a chicken farmer!

Never count your chickens before they are catched

Ok my coats on and I'm leaving

Liam - 31/3/10 at 07:18 PM

Ha ha! Halarious

Well at least you got an egg out of it. Hang on - I thought the egg-laying gender wasn't too hot at flying? Or was Chicken Run not an accurate documentary?

flak monkey - 31/3/10 at 07:20 PM

None can fly, they can make a spectacular leap though, a good 10' anyway!

deanwelch - 31/3/10 at 07:35 PM

very very funny.............did you not think that might happen as soon as you finished building it a home............lol

hillbillyracer - 31/3/10 at 07:37 PM

Yeah they flap a lot & dont really fly but it assits the ability to jump a fair bit!
You're better off without it though really, we used to have them on the farm here & they're smelly thing that scrats about & makes a right mess!

blakep82 - 31/3/10 at 10:49 PM

They're noisy and stinky but these problems are easily solved with a breadcrumb coating.

gazza285 - 2/4/10 at 10:34 PM

WTF are you doing on a "spa" day near Birmingham? There's only one Spa, and that's on Belgium's only hill.

boggle - 3/4/10 at 03:14 PM

boggle???

richard....i think you need to amend your original post from spa day to mincing day....

I've just got back from 7 weeks on a remote farm in Wales. They had 30 chickens and about 10 ducks. They are free to roam and had no chicken houses/coups etc, just a simple shelter for them to lay in, and they haven't lost any to foxes. Neighbouring farms have, and you can hear the foxes at night.

Reason: all the men on the farm pee around the farm at random locations (no running water for toilets, this place was remote!)

Are they the frozen kind or are you risking them flying off too?
