Windscreen Challenge
Dave Bailey - 1/1/12 at 04:38 PM

All,
Just looking for some inspiration....

The profile of the bottom of my screen does not match the profile of the scuttle.... I have been looking for rubber mouldings for ages but found nothing.... I am sure people have had the same problem... any pictures of your solution?

Thanks
Dave B

CBS do some deep inch deep U-channel that could possibly do.

My windscreen was made by robin hood, it has a slot in the bottom into which you thread the large rubber flap which fills the gap between it and the scuttle.

I'll have a look on robin hood's site to see if I can find you a pic of the profile.

In the meantime, this is mine....

Kit spares (robin hood's parts division) mention it here

but unfortunately, there's no pic of the 'T' seal. I'll keep looking for you.

It is something like this one

(This is a PDF file) you need adobe thingy to view it.

My F27 has a very neat bead of black silicone. Looks neat and tidy.

If your screen was supplied by Luego there is a very good chance it was supplied to them by Lolocost/GBS so the sealing strip shown by Steve should do the job

I didn't get my screen from Luego however I think it is one that has been used on a Luego before.... I am sure that the car I saw this screen on had the gap filled with PU... Not sure I am happy doing this though.... I think the Delta link may have given me a profile I may be able to use....

thanks
Dave B.

What I did with mine was to get a length of tadpole beading, (like used on the rear arches), and slid it under the screen secured with bit of silicone just to hold it in place. Had a look for a picture but none I'm afraid. HTH Ray

Try Seals + Direct as they have hundreds of different rubber profiles.

I am looking for the same rubber seals, and decided to look at the C****hams.

This is what I found. http://www.caterhamparts.co.uk/product.php?id_product=2553

Spot on - that's the stuff - you could buy the whole HEATED windscreen from them for a mere £414 !! that's gonna eat a long way into your "£250" budget for the whole car

Having said that, their photo shows how the rubber gasket fills the mismatched scuttle / screen profile : enlarge me

I am guessing a meter is all you need? I have not been in the garage for a while now and the fame is in the loft, so will measure before I stick my order in.

The website says 'usually 2m per car' but you might get away with 1 metre - measure it (twice) !

Talking about fitting windscreen. I remembered today I need to get some of that tubing for the wiper motor, and the nut that holds the tube to the motor.

Where is the best, and reasonably place to get it?

Thanks.
